Indira Gandhi Educational Trust


Indira Gandhi Educational Trust is a non – profit charitable organization registered under The Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act in 1988. Noted educationalists, philanthropists and social workers of Kerala were brought together to form and register the Trust under this name and style with the sole purpose of promoting education in the state of Kerala.

The Trust sees itself playing an important role in working towards improving the quality of education, the transmission of Indian culture and values in the state of Kerala. It is the dream and objective of the trust to increase the number of schools under its wings and also to expand to all the parts of the state.

Mr Adarsh Kavungal

CEO of Asoka World School and President of Indira Gandhi Educational Trust running educational institutions in multiple districts of Kerala for the past 30 years. The Asoka World School, through his hands-on leadership, has been a driving force in the transformation of a traditional educational school to a new-age, technology-driven venture in the state of Kerala. He believes that this new system could deliver outstanding returns to students and stakeholders, while also making a significant positive impact to local communities and their residents. The exposure he received through his own education, as well as the varied socio-cultural interests he possesses, has aided in shaping several innovative programs that help integrate arts and STEM subjects. 

Late Mr Asokan Kavungal
The Founder President was Late Mr Asokan Kavungal who was an alumnus of Maharaj’s College, Ernakulam. He was a noted journalist, politician, social worker and educationalist. He was also one of the initial promoters of CBSE Management Association of Kerala as well as its Treasurer during his time.

Late Mrs Chinnu Kerachen

Founder General Secretary was Late Mrs Chinnu Kerachen who was an alumna of Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur. She was the Secretary of her college union and was active in social, political and cultural endeavours of her times. She was a dedicated teacher and educationalist who had also published many short stories for children in various periodicals.

The Trust also has a group of advisors who are the leaders and the benchmark creators in their respective fields to advise the Trust when needed.
